If the mood strikes, I’ll paint a five-foot butterfly 🙃
The buckeye has always been my favorite butterfly that is native to Texas. They are very small, and if they close their wings you almost can’t see them in the gravel. But when they open up, their beauty is undeniable. I decided I’d like to try to amplify the butterfly’s size for this work dramatically, so its magnificence could really take the spotlight. This is emphasized by the solid “green screen” background as well. Hope you enjoy one of my all-time favorites in the kingdom of insects!
